Dog Enrichment Volunteer
Dog Enrichment Volunteer plays a vital role in enhancing the well-being of shelter dogs by providing mental and physical stimulation through structured activities. This volunteer engages dogs in interactive play, sensory exercises, training sessions, and socialization opportunities to reduce stress and improve their adoptability. Responsibilities include leading enrichment walks, introducing puzzle toys, engaging in confidence-building exercises, and ensuring dogs receive the attention and stimulation they need to thrive. By fostering positive experiences, the Dog Enrichment Volunteer helps promote happier, healthier dogs, ultimately increasing their chances of finding forever homes.

Dog Adventure Buddy(Dog Day Out)
Dog Adventure Buddy provides shelter dogs with much-needed breaks from the rescue environment by taking them on exciting day trips filled with fun, exploration, and enrichment. Whether it’s a hike on a nature trail, a trip to the park, a car ride for a pup cup, or a leisurely stroll through town, these outings help dogs experience new sights, sounds, and smells while building confidence and social skills. The volunteer ensures the dog’s safety, provides positive interactions, and captures photos and notes about their personality to share with potential adopters. By offering these adventure-filled days, Dog Adventure Buddies help reduce kennel stress, promote adoptability, and give rescue dogs a taste of the loving life that awaits them in their forever homes.

Feline Care Volunteer
Feline Care Volunteer plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of cats in the rescue shelter. This volunteer is responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary cat kennels, providing fresh food and water, and ensuring a stress-free environment for the cats. They engage in socialization activities such as gentle petting, interactive play, and enrichment exercises to help build trust and confidence in shy or anxious cats. Additionally, they monitor the health and behavior of the cats, reporting any concerns to shelter staff. By offering dedicated care and attention, the Feline Care Volunteer helps improve the cats’ overall quality of life and increases their chances of finding loving forever homes.

Animal Transfer Volunteer
An Animal Transfer Volunteer plays a crucial role in safely transporting animals between shelters, rescues, foster homes, and veterinary clinics to ensure they receive the care and opportunities they need. This volunteer helps coordinate and execute safe travel for animals, ensuring they are comfortable, secure, and well-cared for during transport. Responsibilities include handling animals with care, following transport protocols, maintaining cleanliness of transport crates, and providing updates on the animals’ well-being throughout the journey. By facilitating these lifesaving transfers, the Animal Transfer Volunteer helps give animals a better chance at finding loving forever homes and receiving necessary medical attention.

Fundraising Ambassador
Fundraising Ambassador is a passionate advocate for the rescue’s mission, helping to generate financial support through community engagement, events, and donor outreach. This volunteer assists in organizing fundraising campaigns, securing sponsorships, and promoting donation opportunities to support the shelter’s animals and programs. They may help plan and staff fundraising events, connect with local businesses for partnerships, and engage with supporters through social media and outreach efforts. By inspiring individuals and businesses to contribute, the Fundraising Ambassador plays a crucial role in ensuring the rescue has the resources needed to provide lifesaving care and find forever homes for animals in need.

Animal Advocacy Volunteer
An Animal Advocacy Volunteer is a dedicated voice for animal welfare, working to promote policies, awareness, and community engagement that support the rescue’s mission. This volunteer helps educate the public on responsible pet ownership, humane treatment, and the importance of spaying and neutering. They may participate in lobbying efforts, attend community meetings, collaborate with legislators, and advocate for stronger animal protection laws. Additionally, they assist in organizing awareness campaigns, petitions, and public outreach events to drive positive change. By championing the rights and well-being of animals, the Animal Advocacy Volunteer helps create a more compassionate and informed community that supports rescue efforts and lifesaving initiatives.

Gratitude Ambassador
Gratitude Ambassador plays a key role in fostering strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and supporters by expressing heartfelt appreciation for their contributions to the rescue’s mission. This volunteer helps write thank-you notes, create personalized messages, and assist with donor recognition efforts to ensure every supporter feels valued. They may also help coordinate appreciation events, social media shoutouts, and other creative ways to celebrate the generosity of individuals and organizations that help save animals. By spreading gratitude and strengthening connections, the Gratitude Ambassador helps build a loyal and engaged community that continues to support the shelter’s lifesaving work.

Event Ambassador
An Event Ambassador are key volunteers who helps plan, promote, and execute events that support the rescue’s mission and connect the community with adoptable animals. This volunteer assists with organizing adoption events, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns by coordinating logistics, engaging with attendees, and representing the rescue in a professional and enthusiastic manner. They may help set up event spaces, provide information to the public, assist with activities, and encourage community involvement. By creating positive experiences and fostering connections between people and the rescue, the Event Ambassador plays an essential role in increasing support, raising awareness, and helping more animals find loving homes.

Animal Welfare Advocate(Outreach)
An Animal Welfare Advocate – Community Outreach Volunteer plays a crucial role in supporting animals in need by engaging directly with the community to provide education, resources, and assistance. This volunteer helps connect pet owners with vital services such as low-cost veterinary care, spay/neuter programs, and pet food assistance to prevent surrender and improve the well-being of animals. They may participate in door-to-door outreach, organize community events, and distribute educational materials on responsible pet ownership. Additionally, they assist in identifying at-risk animals and working with the rescue to provide intervention and support when needed. By fostering stronger relationships between the rescue and the community, the Animal Welfare Advocate helps keep pets in loving homes and ensures more animals receive the care they deserve.

Specialty Programs

These programs require a second application to be submitted. They require special training and skills so not all volunteers will be able to fulfill these roles.  Require a more specific schedule of availability. 

Due to training, we ask for a 3 month minimum commitment.

Adoption Ambassador
An Adoption Ambassador plays a key role in helping shelter animals find loving forever homes by guiding potential adopters through the adoption process. This volunteer welcomes visitors, provides information about available pets, facilitates meet-and-greet sessions, assists with application processing and helps match animals with families based on lifestyle and compatibility. By serving as an advocate for rescued animals, the Adoption Ambassador Volunteer helps increase successful adoptions and supports the mission of finding every pet a perfect home.  Must be comfortable working with the public.

Surgical Aftercare Volunteer-in Lenexa, KS Clinic
Surgical Aftercare Volunteer provides essential support in ensuring the safe and comfortable recovery of animals following medical procedures. This volunteer monitors post-surgical pets, checks for signs of discomfort or complications, and follows care protocols to promote healing. Responsibilities include preparing recovery spaces, providing gentle handling, offering comfort and reassurance, and assisting with medication or wound care under staff supervision. They also help document the animal’s progress and communicate any concerns to veterinary staff. By offering attentive care and compassion, the Surgical Aftercare Volunteer plays a vital role in helping animals heal and transition smoothly back to the shelter or foster homes.  Require availability on Monday or Wednesdays

Animal Intake Assistant
An Animal Intake Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the rescue during large-scale animal intakes, ensuring that new arrivals are properly processed, assessed, and made comfortable. This volunteer helps with intake procedures, including documenting vital information, checking for identification, and assisting with initial health assessments. They also help set up temporary housing, provide food and water, and ensure that animals are handled with care and compassion as they transition into the shelter environment. Additionally, they assist in organizing intake supplies, maintaining records, and coordinating with staff to address immediate medical or behavioral needs. By providing essential support during large intakes, the Animal Intake Assistant helps ensure that every new rescue receives the best possible start to their journey toward a forever home.  Must have flexibility to schedule as large intake can happen with very little notice.
