Whether you assist behind the scenes, support an adoption event, help during an animal intake, or share your professional talents, your time and skills allow Pawportunities to help more dogs and the people who care about them.
You may select more than one team on our single volunteer application. Placements are based on our current needs, your availability, and any training required for the position.
Our priority volunteer teams
These three teams currently provide the greatest help to our day-to-day rescue work.
Animal Intake Team
Help welcome newly rescued dogs and give them a safe, organized start. Volunteers may prepare crates and supplies, assist with weighing and identification, organize paperwork, label belongings, clean work areas, and support staff throughout intake. Intakes may occur during evenings, weekends, or with limited notice.
Medical & Surgical Support Team
Support our veterinary team on scheduled clinic and surgery days. Volunteers may prepare recovery areas, organize supplies, assist with cleaning, provide supervised comfort to recovering dogs, and help the day run smoothly. Weekday availability, additional training, and a dependable commitment may be required.
Adoption & Event Team
Help create welcoming experiences for adopters and community supporters. Volunteers may assist with meet-and-greets, greet visitors, help at adoption or fundraising events, set up displays, share basic information, and represent Pawportunities in the community. Some responsibilities require additional training.
Additional ways to help
Shelter Support Team
Help keep our Blue Springs facility clean, organized, and ready to serve our animals and foster families. Opportunities may include laundry, dishes, cleaning, sorting donations, organizing supplies, and preparing foster materials.
Transport Team
Safely transport dogs or supplies between our shelter, foster homes, veterinary facilities, events, and other approved locations. Volunteers must have a dependable vehicle and follow all transport and animal-safety procedures.
Content & Social Media Team
Help tell our stories through adoption profiles, social posts, photos, videos, campaigns, event promotion, and website content. Volunteers must follow our established voice and approval process. Writing or creative samples may be requested.
Fundraising & Community Support Team
Assist with fundraising projects, donation drives, donor appreciation, thank-you notes, outreach, event preparation, administrative work, and other skills-based projects. Opportunities vary throughout the year.
