Apply to FosterFoster Homes Make Rescue Possible
Every available foster home allows us to help another dog in need. Whether you foster for a few weeks or continue welcoming dogs throughout the year, you become an essential part of their journey from uncertainty to a permanent, loving home.
Fosters Must Live Within 60 Miles of Blue Springs, Missouri
Foster dogs frequently need to return to Pawportunities for vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, scheduled checkups or other necessary medical care.
Foster families must be able to transport their foster dog to our designated location when care is needed. Because of these ongoing responsibilities, we cannot approve foster homes located more than 60 miles from Blue Springs.
We truly appreciate the interest we receive from people outside our area. This requirement is based on our ability to provide timely, consistent care for every dog—not a lack of appreciation for your willingness to help.
Why Dogs Need Foster Homes
A temporary home gives each dog individualized care while helping our team learn what kind of permanent family will be the best match.
A Safe Place to Land
Dogs coming from shelters, owner surrenders or uncertain situations need a calm place where they can rest and begin adjusting.
Time to Heal and Grow
Some dogs need medical treatment, recovery time, socialization or help learning the routines of living in a home.
A Better Adoption Match
Foster families help us understand a dog's personality, habits and needs so we can find the right permanent home.

Important Information About Foster-to-Adopt
Fostering is not automatically a foster-to-adopt program. Foster-to-adopt is generally reserved for dogs that are not yet ready for adoption because they are awaiting medical care, surgery or another required step. It may also be approved in a limited number of special circumstances.
Dogs that are already available for adoption normally follow our standard adoption process. Submitting a foster application does not guarantee that a particular dog will be approved for foster-to-adopt. Our team will determine whether this option is appropriate for the individual dog.
